  • Clean and strip stall then apply 6-7 bales spread out evenly.

    Evenly spread out the Hurdz Hemp bedding in your stall. (approximately 6-7 bales for a 12 x 12 stall)

    Add 1 bale every 3-5 days.

    Variations in usage may exist due to: Horse habits, cleaning regime or personal preference.

  • There are a lot of misconceptions about Hemp Bedding and its content of CBD and THC. Hurdz Hemp is Industrial grade hemp that is responsibly and sustainably grown in Manitoba, Canada. Industrial Hemp differs from medicinal hemp. Our hemp also undergoes consistent testing which proves there is no CBD or THC present. We have also tested our horses who have been bedded on Hurdz Hemp for a year through the top equine blood lab (Equine Analytical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Kentucky) and have found no trace of CBD or THC. We perform scrupulous testing to reassure our customers and to help educate the public on this healthy and USEF/FEI safe equine bedding

  • Hurdz Hemp absorbs 4x its own weight. Your animals will stay dry longer than with straw, wood or any other bedding on the market.

  • Low or no dust is critical to limiting life-threatening respiratory problems of horses and other animals.

  • Hurdz Hemp reduces the odor of ammonia associated with barn animals better than wood chips or sawdust.

  • Using Hurdz Hemp means you are not destroying trees or the planet.
    Every acre of hemp can potentially store 2-3 tons of carbon in the soil. If you multiply that by 3.67, an acre of hemp can potentially remove 7.34-11.01 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

  • Yes 100%, you use less Hemp than messy, dusty wood chips. Long-term horse health to the lungs and hooves, it’s just better for your horses in so many ways that are not able to be measured by just money.

  • Absolutely, It’s 100% all-natural and goes right back into the soil and makes for wonderful compost material.

  • As with all medical conditions we always recommend that you consult your veterinary specialist. COPD in horses, it's best to have them on bedding that is low dust.

    Another important factor to consider when choosing hemp bedding is the level of absorption of liquid and ammonia, which is derived from nitrogen in urine, it is important as well, as it can irritate the respiratory tract. Products like hemp spread in the stalls that reduce ammonia in the surrounding environment can be effective, while soft stall mats may minimize the need for deep bedding (and hence dust).

  • Yes! It works so well you can turn off your fly spray machines.

  • Yes! FEI, The International Federation for Equestrian Sports has this legal. The 2018 Farm Bill reclassified hemp, and it is now legal to grow industrial hemp.

  • Yes, it is! One bag of hemp is added every 4 days. Whereas using shavings you would add a bag every day. Using hemp you will notice less waste. On shavings, you are typically 3/4 to a full wheelbarrow stall when cleaning. With hemp in our experience, you can use one wheelbarrow for 4 stalls.

  • Trees take a long time to grow, which is why trees are being cut down faster than we can replace them. On average, trees are 10-30 years old before they are used for paper. Hurdz Hemp, on the other hand, takes 60-90 days to reach maturity. Basically, hemp is ready to be harvested and made into bedding, paper, plastics, and many other uses after one season.
